Kick-Off for a three-year EU project: European Cultural Routes of Reformation

Lutherstadt Eisleben gives the perfect frame for the Kick-Off meeting of a three-year EU Interreg project: 'European Cultural Routes of Reformation'. 7 countries, 12 partners to develp a network of hiking routes that will aply for the Council of Europe label. Christian does the project management for one of the two Austrian partners - the Protestant Church Austria.

Cycling Tourism in the Ukrainian Danube Delta

At the most eastern part of the Danube Limes - the Roman fortification to secure the borders against the north. In the Ukrainian Danube Delta for the development of a cycling tourism project - connected with EuroVelo 6, the Danube trail. Discussing in Odessa with representatives of Odessa oblast (region) and the city council. Organised by Agricola, a Ukrainian member of the Danube Competence Centre DCC.

ITB 2016

A successful ITB 2016 is over. Christian took part in two interesting panel discussions:

Futouris organized the panel about 'Tourism and Development Cooperation', opened by the German Minister for International Cooperation, Gerd Müller. At the panel the top representatives of German tourism: Hasso Von Düring (futouris), Michael Frenzel (BTW), Norbert Fiebig (DRV), Stefanie Berg (Thomas Cook), Thomas Ellerbeck (TUI Group), Sören Hartmann (DER Touristik) - and Heinz Fuchs (Tourism Watch) and Christian Baumgartner for civil society and academia.

The Upper Austrian Tourism Board organised a panel discussing new trends in tourism,  mobility, slow tourism, and others. With political and industry representatives and the sociologist Prof Girtler.

Honorary Professor for Christian Baumgartner

Christian received the title as Honorary Professor (FH) from the IMC FH Krems (Austria)

After 12 years of teaching as external lecturer and several EU projects together, the IMC FH Krems collegium decided to value this dedication with the title as Honorary Professor (FH) within a solemnly celebration act.

Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism Offers

The Guidelines 'Sustainable Tourism Offers' (only German) are ready. Christian was member of the advisory board, that analysed from 2012 to 2015 together with the university of applied science Luzern (CH) and the destinations Arosa, Scuol Val Müstair, Interlaken, Luzern and Entlebuch how sustainable tourism offers could be developed and marketed. One of the results is the publication of the Guidelines 'Sustainable Tourism Offers' (German only), which should also support other holiday regions with a successful sustainability management. Destination management in the Entlebuch (CH)

Christian Baumgartner held a workshop on destination mangement in the biosphere reserve Entlebuch (CH). Target group were Romanian experts in ecotourism within the  project 'Green Jobs for Green Destinations'. Together with CIPRA Schweiz, AER (Association of Ecotourism Romania) and ProPark the project trains eco-tourism destination managers and  guides and trainers for hiking, mountainbiking, horseback riding, skitouring, kayaking, wildlife-watching and nature interpretation.
