Christian Baumgartner was able to give an overview of the challenges for sustainable tourism at a meeting of all destination managers in Bad Ischl.

A group of students from the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden conducted a series of expert interviews in Venice under the guidance of Christian. The aim: to question the planned tourist tax in its effectiveness against overtourism.

The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences organized this year's Brennpunkt Innovation on the topic of 'Sustainability in Tourism' and invited Christian as a key note speaker. Governor Haslauer thus also enjoyed the critical reflections.

After two Corona-related cancellations, the Forum was finally able to hold its annual general meeting again at Buchenau Castle in the Rhön Mountains. And Christian was allowed to moderate again. Included: An emotional farewell of Manfred Häupl as chairman.

The award ceremony for the Vitalpin ClimateInvest 2021 was celebrated with more than 70 interested participants from the nominated projects, the Vitalpin network, the jury members, including Christian Baumgartner, as well as politicians and scientists.
Also present: Former EU Commissioner Franz Fischler as chairman of the jury and Prof. Dr. Ulrich von Weizsäcker.

In Valposchiavo (Grisons) the destination partners (Arosa, Davos and Valposchiavo) met with Myclimate and the project leader of the University of Applied Sciences Grisons. Important steps in the calculation of the comprehensive climate footprint of the tourism destinations were discussed.

The two-year process ended with a two-day event with numerous destination managers in Vienna.
